Africa: Call for articles for Femnet News
As a pan-Africa network of women organisations, FEMNET has continued to play a vanguard role in promoting African women’s rights and development. Through our bilingual Newsletter Femnet News, our members and partners have a platform to communicate and share diverse information, experiences and ideas related to women’s empowerment as well as showcase their individual and organisational activities in promoting women’s rights at national, regional and global arenas. Our next issue of Femnet News (September-December 2007) will focus on Enhancing African Women’s Leadership.

Through our bilingual Newsletter Femnet News, our members and partners have a platform to communicate and share diverse information, experiences and ideas related to women’s empowerment as well as showcase their individual and organisational activities in promoting women’s rights at national, regional and global arenas.
Our next issue of Femnet News (September-December 2007) will focus on Enhancing African Women’s Leadership. This was the theme of the just concluded Programming Conference and General Assembly that was held in September 26-28 2007, in Nairobi-Kenya. Over sixty FEMNET members and partners from different parts of Africa had the opportunity to reflect and assess the growth of the African women’s movement, celebrate key victories in the attainment of the goals of equality, development and peace as well as strategies on how to overcome the challenges being faced by women particularly in assuming leadership roles at all levels.
To this end, we wish to invite you to submit your articles that will focus on critical issues related to African Women’s Leadership in the following sub-themes and areas of interest:
· Enhancing participation of African women in both public and private leadership positions
· Economic empowerment of women in Africa · Advocating for reproductive health and sexual rights for African women
· The role of African women in peacebuilding and conflict resolution
· Mentoring and building the capacity of young women leaders
· Promoting transformative leadership in Africa Articles should be in English and/or French and should not exceed 800 words.
All articles should be submitted to [email][email protected] and copied to [email][email protected] by Monday 05 November 2007. As a policy, FEMNET will credit the authors of the articles. However, each submission will be reviewed by the Editor who may correct spelling and grammar and edit for length.
