The fellowship will provide funding for scientists to study bioethics and research ethics, and also to do an independent project in their home country related to research ethics. The program is directed by Drs. Nancy Kass and Adnan Hyder of the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

The seminar, entitled "International Humanitarian Law and Current Conflicts: New Dilemmas and Challenges for Humanitarian Organizations," will be held from October 29 - November 2, 2001, and will offer participants the opportunity to learn from and engage in lively discussions with faculty experts from Harvard, the ICRC and the field.

The new program will be aired at 1800 GMT immediately before Straight Talk Africa. The first show on August 8, 2001, “The Stigma of AIDS” has Aids activist Reinard Brown and author Reverend Dr. Mankekolo Mahlangu-Ngcobo as studio guests. For the first few months, there will be only one original show produced each month. The Wednesdays of August will see a re-broadcast of “The Stigma of AIDS”.
