The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation is looking for two dynamic professionals to fill two posts in its Peace Building in Southern Africa Project. This exciting project aims to build partnerships for peace in Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The project aims to operate as a flagship for CSVR’s vision to develop an integrated approach to peacebuilding which builds on CSVR’s 13 years of experience in violence prevention, transitional justice, trauma healing and reconciliation.

Senior Conflict/Peacebuilding Manager

The incumbent would be expected to:
· Develop and implement a strategy for CSVR that integrates different thematic areas of work under the umbrella of peacebuilding
· Take forward CSVR’s work in the Southern African region to develop and promote community based responses to peacebuilding which might include violence prevention, trauma healing, early warning, conflict transformation and restorative justice processes to build sustainable reconciliation and peace
· Oversee CSVR’s dynamic and internationally-recognised research and intervention work in these fields
· Lead strategic thinking and engage in advocacy work for the CSVR in these fields
· Interface with donors, government officials, NGO partners and international organisations
· Provide leadership to an energetic staff of researchers and intervention specialists

The ideal candidate should:
· hold a post-graduate degree in international relations, peace studies or a similar discipline
· have experience in developing and implementing peace and conflict intervention projects and training programmes
· have experience in the management of staff, projects and budgets
· be familiar with forging strategic partnerships with civil society structures
· be willing to oversee high quality research projects
· have experience and expertise which enables him or her to work regionally and internationally
· be comfortable with conducting high level interactions with government, donors and other NGOs
· diverse language skills would be an advantage

This is a permanent post based in Johannesburg. Salary from R230 000 –
R400 000 per anum, based on experience and expertise.
