South Africa: Education and Campaigns Unit Coordinator, AIDC

The AIDC is seeking a coordinator for its Education and Campaigns Unit. The AIDC is a dynamic NGO pursuing alternatives to neo-liberal globalisation through activist orientated research, publications, education, campaigns and coalition building. The Education and Campaign unit formulates its education programme and supports its campaigns and in particular its Right to Work Campaign. Deadline for applications is 17 February 2007.

The AIDC is a dynamic NGO pursuing alternatives to neo-liberal globalisation through activist orientated research, publications, education, campaigns and coalition building.

Education and Campaigns Unit Coordinator The unit formulates its education programme and supports its campaigns and in particular its Right to Work Campaign.

The candidate must have the ability to: coordinate the research, publications and education activities of the unit provide public briefings on the unemployment crisis and the Right to Work Campaign; provide education on both the national and international political economy; support the Right to Work mobilisation at grassroots level; work with other popular organisations and generate interest in the activities of the unit; good interpersonal skills and be able to coordinate staff in the unit.

Is someone who has: a solid activist background; experience of movement building; a good understanding of neo-liberal globalisation and its impact on popular classes; experience in developing popular education materials and methodologies; excellent interpersonal skills; experience in collectively driven organisational contexts; has a driver's licence and is computer literate. The ability to speak several South African languages, fundraising experience and a tertiary qualification would be an added advantage.
