Human rights abuses perpetrated by government and military task forces have reached a level that the international community can no longer ignore, NDCSC suggests. At present, ‘human needs are continually being frustrated on a large scale by illegitimate federal and state regimes in the Niger Delta’, the group says. NDCSC blames the current cycle of violence on the structural violence of the state in response to a peaceful agitation by the Ogoni social movement.
