OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
The Field Officer will design and organise IEC/BCC materials including newsletter publication. S/he will also be responsible for Merlin IEC material stock in addition to supporting IEC campaigns in the field, focusing on malaria.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist Assistant Project Officer-IEC/BCC with designing, development and acquisition of IEC/BCC materials for HIV/TB project and where necessary for Malaria Global Fund project as per Global Fund IEC strategies/approach.
2. Support the projects to adopt creative strategies of communicating health information based on the characteristics and preferred modes of media for the communities.
3. Work with the Assistant Project Officer-IEC/BCC and the Community Mobilisation Field Officer in organising and facilitating IEC/BCC activities, in the field of malaria, as guided by the Global Fund strategies/approach and in close collaboration with the IEC steering committee and other implementing agencies.
4. Maintain a database of the distribution of IEC/BCC materials.
5. Ensure photographic and video coverage of project activities.
6. Ensure stock of IEC materials are maintained.
7. Assist in production and development of quarterly newsletter highlighting Merlin activities.
8. Assist APO- IEC/BCC in coordinating PR and media liaison.
9. Assist other project staff in any other activities as requested.
10. Ensure Gender is mainstreamed in the implementation of project activities.
11. Assist in dissemination of programme updates to London for publishing purposes e.g. Merlin web site, newsletters etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
1. A diploma in journalism, public relations or marketing
2. Graphics design skills with thorough knowledge of Corel, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop applications
3. Good photography and video production skills
4. Excellent communication and people skills with at least two years' experience in designing and delivering social marketing messages for IEC/BCC
5. You will need to have analytical mind and the ability to think creatively
6. Ability to maintain database using MS Excel and MS Access
7. Skills in Public Relations will be an added advantage
8. Representational skills
9. Good in English and Swahili Desirable
10. Experience in working in the area of HIV/AIDS/TB and malaria
11. Previous exposure to working with communities
