The successful candidate will, with other Deputy Directors, support the Executive Director to provide leadership to the Network, within the framework set by the Executive Management Committee. Deputy Director - Afrobarometer
The Afrobarometer network is looking to fill the position of Deputy Director. The successful candidate will, with other Deputy Directors, support the Executive Director to provide leadership to the Network, within the framework set by the Executive Management Committee.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Liaising with network partners, support units and standing committees to ensure high quality outputs from the network, according to agreed protocols
- Raising the public profile of the Network, specifically though key dissemination and outreach events
- Assisting the Executive Director with management tasks and participating in management committees as assigned
- Making a prominent contribution to the intellectual development of the project
- Supervising and developing staff
- Assisting in fundraising and overseeing the efficient management of grants according to their requirements
- Providing technical assistance to national partners
- Contributing to the production of briefings and reports and assisting in planning and facilitating network meetings.
Requirements:
- A Doctorate in Social Science, preferably in Political Science
- Quantitative research experience, preferably in Africa
- Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills
- Sound administrative competence
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-national environment with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, political leaders, policymakers and NGO and civil leaders
- Flexibility and willingness to work on a wide range of tasks.
